Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Emily has long been fascinated with the story of cities and their inhabitants, an intricate web of growth and decay occupied by architecture and its neighboring disciplines. At the University of Cincinnati, she studied Architecture and Urban Planning, where she gained valuable experience designing livable spaces at a range of scales and contexts. Internship experience at firms in New York City, Philadelphia, and Portland, Oregon provided her with practical knowledge in the field extending to the east and west coasts of the United States.
Emily earned her Masters of Architecture in December 2024 from Syracuse University, where she was a teaching assistant for first year design studios and participated in research workshops led by renowned architects and designers from across the globe. Her studio work led her to study abroad in Japan, South Korea, and Guatemala, expanding her perspective on the role of architecture in shaping our experience of this world. Emily believes architecture to be a lens through which the built environment is inherited, altered, preserved, and created, having everything to do with sustainability, social justice, accessibility, and the economy. She sees the future of her work as an opportunity to engage with these visible and invisible systems and is eager to positively impact the lives of the people and communities she encounters.
In her free time, Emily enjoys sewing, painting, running, and rearranging her space until she's dizzy. A chronic collage-maker and mood-board curator, she is plagued by the constant need to create. Reach out if you'd like to connect!
